PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's and women's track teams competed at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University on Saturday, December 7, 2024.  Graduate student 
Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England), a six-time All-American, finished second in the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:45.67 and set the school indoor record.  She was the top collegiate finisher in the race.  Her time is the sixth fastest in collegiate history.  The previous Providence College women's indoor 3,000 meter record was 8.49.18 which was set by Kim Smith at the NCAA Indoor Championship in March 2004.
Also for the women's team, Friar sophomore 
Kiera Hall (Christchurch, New Zealand) won the 1,000 meters in a time of 2:48.82.   Junior 
Jill Fenerty (Franklin, Mass.) placed 13
th in the 300 in a time of 40.53.
For the men's team, senior 
Michael Morgan (Sligo, Ireland) won his heat in the 5,000 meters a personal best time of 13:56.10.
The Friars return to action on Jan. 12 at the UMass Amherst Flagship Invitational in Boston, Mass.
