VILLANOVA, Pa.– The Providence College men's and women's track teams competed in the final day of the BIG EAST Championship in Villanova, Pa., at the Jumbo Elliott Track at Villanova University on Saturday, May 13. The Friars finished the day with two title wins.
Leading the Friar women,
Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England) won the 1,500-meter title in a time of 4:14.46 to earn an All-BIG EAST accolade.
Tessa Hunt (Wellington, New Zealand) followed in eighth place with a personal record time of 4:27.75 and
Alex O'Neill (Ennis, Ireland) finished in 11th (4:35.23).

Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand),
Alex O'Neill, and
Halle Atkinson (Franklin, Mass.) won the 4x800-meter relay title in a time of 8:36.34 and earned All-BIG EAST accolades.
Kimberley May finished third in the 800 meters in a time of 2:05.77, earning an All-BIG EAST accolade.
Halle Atkinson placed sixth in a time of 2:07.93.
In the 4x100-meter relay, the team of
Hawa Grear (Providence, R.I.),
Taylor Newman (Old Tappan, N.J.),
Emme Conan (Skaneateles, N.Y.), and
Charlotte Cousins (Madbury, N.H.) finished in seventh place (49.17).
Niamh Gowing (Dublin, Ireland),
Alex O'Neill,
Meg Hughes (Rochester, Mass.), and
Halle Atkinson finished seventh in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:50.75.
Meg Hughes finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.60.
On the men's side, the 4x800-meter relay team of
Tim Dolan (Cinnaminson, N.J.),
Abdel Laadjel (Lucan, Ireland),
Zane Powell (Auckland, New Zealand), and
Josh Lewin (West Chester, Pa.) placed sixth in 7:46.49.
Zane Powell ran a 3:46.78 in the 1,500-meter for sixth place and
Ryan Bush (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) finished in 14
th with a time of 4:07.49.
Josh Lewin ran a 1:53.21 in the 800-meter to finish seventh overall.
The 4x100-meter relay team of
Brett Lehman (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.),
William Rainey (San Jose, Calif.), Nik Ventura (Jamison, Penn.), and
Nico Fanuele (Wilmington, Mass.) finished in a time of 43.83 for sixth place.
UP NEXT
The Friars will compete in the first round of the NCAA Championship on May 24-27 in Jacksonville, Fl., at Hodges Stadium.
