Softball Opens BIG EAST Play At St. John’s

The Friars will play a three game series against the Red Storm on March 10 and March 11.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College softball team will open BIG EAST play against St. John's University on Friday, March 10 and Saturday, March 11 in a three-game series.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
The Friars enter BIG EAST play with a 7-9 overall record. Providence fell to Austin Peay, 8-0, on Tuesday, March 7 in Clarksville, Tenn.
Junior Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.) paces the Friars lineup at the top of the order, as she has accumulated a .413 batting average at the plate. She also leads the team in hits (19), homeruns (5), runs (12) and slugging percentage (.783). Sophomore Rachael Petrarca (Clearwater, Fla.) has also contributed at the plate this season recording 13 hits and a .317 batting average.
Junior Tori Grifone (Sussex, N.J.) has gone 4-4 in the circle in 2023 pitching 52.1 innings. She has struck out 60 batters and has allowed 54 hits. Senior Elysia Cunnigan (Corona, Calif.) has recorded a 2.57 ERA in the circle through 16.1 innings.
SCOUTING ST. JOHN'S
St. John's enters the series 6-12 overall. The Red Storm went 2-2 last weekend in the Red Storm Classic earning wins over Drexel and Quinnipiac.
Sophomore London Jarrard leads the Red Storm at the plate recording a .342 batting average. She has tallied 13 hits and two homeruns. Freshman Sydney Totarsky and freshman Katie Whittaker follow suit and have each recorded 11 hits for the Red Storm.
Sophomore Caroline Zamudio has recorded a 3.00 ERA in the circle for St. John's through 39.1 innings. She has struck out 26 batters and has allowed 19 runs.
ON DECK
The Friars will host UMass for their home opener on Wednesday, March 15 on Glay Field in Providence, R.I.
