PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's basketball team could not overcome a slow start in the first quarter during a 71-56 loss to Boston College on Nov. 19 in Providence, R.I. The Friars drop to 2-2 overall on the season while the Eagle's improved to 3-2.
1ST QUARTER:
• BC got out to a 4-0 lead before
Brynn Farrell scored Providence's first points of the game from the free throw line at the 6:10 mark (4-2).
• The Friars started the game 0-4 from the field and didn't hit their first field goal until the 3:28 mark to make the score 11-4.
• Providence finished the quarter just 2-9 from the field and committed 10 turnovers.
• The Eagles led 18-6 at the break.
2ND QUARTER:
• The Friars cut the deficit to eight (20-12) with a 6-2 scoring advantage to start the second quarter.
• After shooting just 22-percent in the first quarter, Providence hit 58-percent from the field in the second quarter (7-12).

Olivia Olsen paced the Friars with eight points and three rebounds in the first half.
• BC's Teya Sidberry led all scorers with 11 first-half points.
• Boston College maintained its eight-point lead at halftime (28-20).
3RD QUARTER:
• Providence opened the third quarter with a 5-0 spurt to make it a three-point game (28-25).
• Boston College answered with six-straight points to force a Friar timeout with 7:19 on the clock (34-25).
• The Friars'
Ugne Sirtautaite halted the run with a lay-up out of the timeout and
Grace Efosa drained a three from the baseline two-minutes later (34-30).
• JoJo Lacey ended a scoring drought of 2:32 with a three-pointer, sparking an 8-0 run to get the lead back out to 12 (42-30).
• Boston College took a 50-38 lead into the fourth quarter.
4TH QUARTER:
• The Eagles led by as many as 19 in the fourth quarter (61-42).
• Providence cut it to 13 (61-48) but proved to be as close as the team would get the rest of the way.
NOTES:
•
Grace Efosa paced the Friars with 15 points and added five rebounds.
• Olsen completed the day with 12 points and Farrell rounded out the double-digit scorers, with 11 points.
• The Friars have committed 20+ turnovers in three of their four games this season. Providence turned the ball over a season-high 27 times vs. Boston College.
• Boston College outscored Providence 31-10 in points off turnovers during the game.

• Providence returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 22 against Monmouth. The game will tip at 2:00 p.m. at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I.
