PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's basketball team was defeated by Brown, 61-56, on Nov. 15 at Pizzitola Sports Center in Providence, R.I. It marked the first loss of the season for Providence, dropping to 2-1 on the young season. Brown improved to 2-2 on the year, securing its second-straight victory over a BIG EAST opponent.
1ST QUARTER:
•
Kylee Sheppard hit a three to start the game, but Brown answered with a 6-1 run to take a 6-4 advantage.
• Providence outscored the Bears 7-2 during a two-minute span to gain an 11-8 advantage at the media timeout (4:42).
• The game was tied 14-14 at the break.
• The Friars shot just 38.5-percent from the field (5-13), while the Bears converted 54.5-percent of their shot attempts (6-11).
2ND QUARTER:
• The game remained tied heading into the second quarter media (17-17) as the Friars committed six turnovers through the opening 5:18.
• Brown hit back-to-back triples out of the timeout to take a 23-17 lead (4:28).
• The Friars trailed 26-19 before going on an 8-0 run to close the half and regain the lead at 27-26.

Grace Efosa scored six of Providence's points in the run and eight in the quarter overall for a game-high 11 points at halftime.
3RD QUARTER:
• The Bears started the third on a 9-1 run to take a 35-28 lead.
• Back-to-back steals by
Nariah Scott led to a 4-0 spurt by the Friars and a Brown timeout at the 5:57 mark (35-32).
• Brown outscored Providence 17-9 in the third quarter to take a 43-36 lead into the final frame.
4TH QUARTER:
• The Friars started the quarter with an 8-3 scoring edge to inch within 46-44 with 7:59 on the clock.
• Brown responded with a 6-0 run to claim an eight points edge (52-44) midway through the quarter.
• Morales Romero hit a baseline three with 3:06 left to get the Friars within three (54-51).
• Sheppard connected on a triple of her own at the 1:39 mark to make it a one-point game (57-56).
• The Bears missed a pair of free throws at the other end and Providence grabbed the defensive board on the second miss, but turned the ball over on the offensive end.
• The Friars' forced a shot clock violation on Brown's next offensive possession and gained possession with 28.5-seconds left.
• Providence called timeout to advance the ball into the frontcourt
• Providence missed two free throw attempts with 21-seconds left and Brown made a pair at the other end to bump its lead to 59-56 with 20.3-seconds remaining.
• The Friars' look at a three on their next possession was off the mark and Brown closed out the game with two free throws (61-56).
NOTES:
• Efosa was the lone Friar in double figures with 13 points.
• Sheppard and
Olivia Olsen each finished the night with nine points.
• Olsen and Efosa led Providence on the boards with eight rebounds each.
• The Friars recorded 16 steals in the game, paced by a career-high four steals from
Brynn Farrell.

• The Friars will return to action on Sunday, Nov. 19 against non-conference foe Boston College. The game will be played at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. and is scheduled to tip at 2:00 p.m.
