BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Providence College sophomore
Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England) ran in the 1,500 meter Quarterfinals and junior Lily Tuck (Sunderland, Canada) competed in the 5,000 meters on Saturday (May 28) during the final day at the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track East Preliminary competitions at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.
Flockhart ran a very strong race as she won her heat in a time of 4:10.80 which enabled her to qualify for the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 8-11 in Eugene, Oregon. With her time of 4:10.80, she established the Providence College record for the 1,500 meters, which had been set by former 1,500 meter NCAA Champion Amy Rudolph (4:11.18) in 1995. Flockhart also set a facility record.
Tuck competed in the 5,000 meters and finished in a time of 16:55.77
In addition to Flockhart, graduate student AJ Ernst (Marblehead, Mass.) also qualified for the 1,500 meters at NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday.
