Ernst And Flockhart To Run At NCAA Championship On June 8-11

The two Friars will travel to Eugene, Oregon to run.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College's outdoor track runners graduate student AJ Ernst (Marblehead, Mass.) and sophomore Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England) will travel to Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, which will take place June 8-11. Ernst will run the Semifinals of the 1,500 Meters, which will begin at 7:46 p.m. ET on Wednesday, June 8. Flockhart will also compete in the 1,500 Meters Semifinal, which will start at 8:46 p.m. ET Thursday, June 9.
This will be Ernst's second year competing at the Hayward Field in Eugene, as he made the NCAA 1,500 Meters Final in the 2021 outdoor season in Eugene. To qualify for this year's Championship, Ernst won his heat in a time of 3:48.34 at the 2022 NCAA East Division Regional on May 25 in Bloomington, Ind., and automatically qualified for the 1,500-meter Quarterfinals. Ernst then took to the track on May 27 and ran a season-best time of 3:40.05 in the 1,500 meters which qualified him for the NCAA Finals.
Flockhart, who was double Big East Champion (2022 Indoor Mile, 2022 Outdoor 1,500 Meters- 4:20.43) qualified for the 1,500 Meter Quarterfinal by placing second in her heat on May 26 at the 2022 East Division Regional in Bloomington, Ind. in a time of 4:13.91. She then won her Quarterfinal on May 28 in a time of 4:10.80, which established a facility record, Providence College record, personal best and qualified her for the NCAA Finals.
