Maeve O'Neill (Cork, Ireland) competed in the 800-meter heats for Ireland at the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26 in Toruń, Kujawy Pomorze, Poland on Friday, March 20. O'Neill placed second in her heat in 2:03.20 to automatically qualify for Saturday's semifinal.

O'Neill led at the 500-meter mark before finishing second. The women's 800-meter semifinals will be held on Saturday, March 21 at 7:22 a.m. ET. O'Neill will be in heat one. The race can be streamed on Peacock.
O'Neill became the first Friar to compete in the World Championships since Ben Connor in 2019 in Doha. She is also the first Friar to compete in the 800 meters at the World Championships.
