Men’s Lacrosse Falls To Marquette, 16-11

MILWAUKEE, Wis.- The Providence College men's lacrosse team fell to Marquette, 15-11, on April 2 in Milwaukee, Wis. in the team's BIG EAST season opener.
 
First Quarter:
-Marquette went ahead early, scoring the first six goals of the game, 6-0.
-Evan McGreen put the Friars on the board at 4:48 with an unassisted goal, 6-1.
-The Golden Eagles scored three more goals, 9-1, to close out the opening quarter.

Second Quarter:
-The teams traded goals in the second quarter with Marquette scoring the opening goal, 10-1, before Jack Horrigan scored for the Friars at 8:47, 10-2.
-The Golden Eagles struck again before Drew Edwards struck for Providence at 2:16 to send the teams into the half, 11-3.
 
Third Quarter:
-Marquette opened scoring again in the second half, 12-3, before Matt Grillo found the back of the net for the Friars at 8:08, 12-4. The goal served as Grillo's 100th career goal, making him one of only five to reach the milestone in program history.
-Ryan Bell scored his third goal of the second, 12-5, at 4:36 before the Golden Eagles put up three goals, 15-5.
-Michael Chabra and McGreen both scored to close out the third quarter, 15-7.

Fourth Quarter:
-McGreen found the back of the net again to open the final quarter, earning his second hat trick of the season, 15-8.
-Marquette scored once more, 16-8, before Bell netted two goals and Chabra netted one to close out the BIG EAST season opener, 16-11. The two fourth quarter goals secured Bell's first career hat trick.
 
Game Notes:
-McGreen and Bell led the Friars with three goals apiece. McGreen added one caused turnover.
-Bell also pitched in with two assists for five points on the day. He leads the Friars on the season with 24 assists.
-Albert Paniccia recorded a team-high four groundballs.

PC– Michael Harris – 7 saves, 16 goals against, .304  save percentage 
MU- Michael Allieri - 14 saves, 11 goals against, .560 save percentage
