Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Villanova, 18-13

VILLANOVA, Pa.- The Providence College men's lacrosse team fell to the Villanova Wildcats, 18-13, on Saturday, April 16 at Villanova Stadium in Villanova, Pa. The Friars drop to 5-7 overall, 0-3 in BIG EAST play. The Wildcats improve to 7-4 overall, 2-1 in BIG EAST play.
 
First Quarter:
-Villanova scored the first four goals of the game.
- Brendan Driscoll tallied the first Friar goal of the game with 4:15 remaining to make it 4-1.
-The Wildcats scored once more before the end of the quarter. Villanova led, 5-1 after one.

Second Quarter:
-The Friars started the second quarter hot, tallying the first four goals to tie things up, 5-5. Chris Cusolito, Patrick McAleavey, Michael Chabra and Albert Paniccia all scored for the Friars in the run.
-Villanova retaliated with three goals to reclaim the lead, 8-5.
-Jack Horrigan netted one for the Friars, 8-6, with 1:45 remaining in the first half before Villanova closed it out with one more to make it 9-6.
 
Third Quarter:
-Villanova scored the first two goals of the second half to improve their lead (11-6).
-Matt Grillo scored for the Friars at the 10:52 mark, 11-7, assisted by Drew Edwards.
-The Wildcats scored two more, 13-7, before Jack Horrigan netted two in a row at the 8:09 and 6:18 marks, 13-9.
-John Hoffman followed up Horrigan with a goal to bring the Friars within three, 13-10, before Villanova added one to end the third, 14-10.
 
Fourth Quarter:
-Villanova had the first goal of the quarter, 15-10, before Grillo scored his second goal of the day at 13:18, 11-15.
-Chabra and Michael Hughes followed up Grillo's goal with their own at 8:57 and 8:49, respectively, putting the Friars within two (15-13).
-The Wildcats claimed the last three goals of the game to close things out, 18-13.
 
Game Notes:
 -Providence had nine different goal scorers on the day.
-Horrigan recorded a hat trick, while Grillo and Chabra also registered multi-point games on two goals each.
-The Wildcats lead the all-time series, 10-5.
