NEW YORK, N.Y. – Sophomore
Tori Grifone (Sussex, N.J.) was named the BIG EAST Softball Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday, March 21. This marks the first BIG EAST weekly recognition of the season for Grifone.
Grifone allowed just two earned runs over 19.1 innings of work in wins over Merrimack and St. John's while striking out 24. In two starts against St. John's over the weekend, the sophomore allowed just one earned run over 13.1 innings as the Friars took two from the Red Storm. Grifone held St. John's batters to a .143 batting average against her in those two games.
The Friars will return to action and travel to Kingston, R.I. to face intra-state rival, the University of Rhode Island, on Tuesday, March 22 at 3:00 p.m.
