PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's lacrosse team defeated the Vermont Catamounts 12-10 on March 12 at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I.
FIRST QUARTER:
• Four different players found the back of the net for the Friars in the opening quarter.
• Ryan Bell started off the scoring for Providence on the man-up at 12:54.
Drew Edwards,
Evan McGreen and
Jack Horrigan all followed with goals of their own to jump out to a 4-0 lead.
• Vermont got on the board with a goal at 5:49 before Edwards tallied his second goal of the day to put the Friars up, 5-1, heading into the second quarter.
SECOND QUARTER:
• The Friar defense dominated the second as they kept the Catamounts off the board for the entirety of the quarter.
• Chris Cusolito,
Matt Grillo, and
Michael Chabra all notched goals in the quarter two, all unassisted to send the Friars into the half with an 8-1 lead.
• Grillo's goal came from a turnover at center field from Vermont's goaltender, allowing him to capitalize on an empty-net at 6:24.
THIRD QUARTER:
• The Catamounts came out hot in the second half, scoring five consecutive goals, 8-6, before Grillo added one more for the Friars, 9-6.
• Vermont closed the quarter out with two more goals to edge in on the Friars lead, 9-8, heading into the final frame.
FOURTH QUARTER:
• Providence jumped to a 11-8 lead with goals from McGreen and Chabra to start the fourth.
• Vermont responded with two more goals to further edge in on the Friars lead, 11-10.
• Cusolito scored his second of the game on an empty net with just 23 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Friars some insurance, 12-10.
GAME NOTES:
• Five Friars scored two goals and three tallied three points (Cusolito, Chabra, McGreen).

Michael Harris earned his fourth win in net for Providence.
• Michael O'Grady recorded a team-high five ground balls.
• The Friars improve to 4-3 on the season with the win.
