The Friars and Hawks have met 18 times with Providence leading in the all-time series, 11-7.
In their last meeting, the Friars fell to the Hawks, 10-8, in 2020 at Saint Joseph's University.
LAST TIME OUT...
The Friars come out on top against Siena, 13-8, in Loudonville, N.Y. Saturday, Feb. 19. Six different players scored for the Friars in the matchup with
Matt Grillo (Setauket, N.Y.) scoring five goals and
Jack Horrigan (Lutherville, Md.) following closely with three.
Quinn McConnaughey (Cohasset, Mass.) led the Friars with seven ground balls.
GRILLO, BELL, MCGREEN AND HARRIS EARN BIG EAST WEEKLY HONORS...
Matt Grillo (Setauket, N.Y.),
Ryan Bell (Port Jefferson, N.Y.),
Evan McGreen (Narragansett, R.I.) and
Michael Harris (Basking Ridge, N.J.) all earned BIG EAST Weekly Awards on February 21 after their performances in a nonconference match against Siena College.
Grillo earned BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week following his 13th career hat trick. Overall, he led all scorers with five goals in a 13-8 victory over the Saints. Four of Grillo's tallies came in the opening half, as Providence raced out to a 7-0 lead. Then, with just one second remaining in the third quarter, Grillo notched his fifth and final goal to give the Friars an 11-2 lead.
Bell tabbed BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after tallying a team-high four assists for the Friars. Bell connected with Grillo just 1:50 into the contest, to give Providence the early 1-0 lead. He later found
Jack Horrigan for the Friars third goal of the contest. Overall, he dished out all four assists in the opening half to help the Friars take a 7-0 advantage into the locker room.
McGreen and Harris were named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after dominating in the midfield and net, respectively. McGreen tallied two goals, including the game-winner, and two assists while Harris recorded 12 saves and finished the outing with a .800 save percentage, while leading the Friars to a five-goal victory. Before subbing out with under eight minutes to play, Harris held the Saints to just three goals, as the Friars held a 12-3 lead.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS...
The Hawks are 2-1 so far this season, having won against Penn State University, 15-13, on Feb. 19.
In the teams latest matchup against Penn State, junior Matt Bohmer scored six goals while Brown added a pair of goals as well. Levi Anderson led the team in ground balls with seven.
PLAYERS TO WATCH...
Saint Joseph's is led by senior face-off specialist Zach Cole. Last season, he won 68.3% of his face-off opportunities and was named the NEC Player of the Year. The Hawks return their top three goal scorers from last season in junior Matt Bohmer, senior Ryan Doran and junior Levi Anderson. Bohmer led the team last season, finishing with 31 goals. They also return their starting goalkeeper, graduate student Tucker Almany, who helped the team to a 9-1 record in the games he played.

The Friars will host Brown University on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium on Saturday, March 5 at 1:00 p.m. for game two of the Ocean State Tournament.
