Kelsey Christensen Joins Softball Staff As A Pitching Coach

Christensen spent the previous three seasons at Holy Cross.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College softball Head Coach Jill Karwoski announced today (Sept. 8) the hiring of Kelsey Christensen as the program's pitching coach. Christensen joins Providence College after spending three seasons as the pitching coach for the Holy Cross Crusaders.

"She brings an incredible amount of passion, energy and knowledge that our players will benefit from every day. I have no doubt Kelsey will be all-in and I look forward to seeing our pitchers thrive under her leadership."

At Holy Cross, Christensen helped guide the Crusaders' pitching staff to the program's all-time lowest team ERA in a season (3.21), breaking the previous record set by the 2019 staff, which she also oversaw. She also developed and implemented a velocity training program and oversaw all arm-health related matters for the pitching staff, which included pre/post-throw requirements to ensure the health and longevity of pitching arms throughout the entire development process. Christensen was also instrumental in team development, where she worked directly with player leadership to enhance and sustain a culture of excellence on and off the field.

Prior to Holy Cross, Christensen served as a volunteer assistant coach at Michigan State University for two seasons (2017-18). She helped the Spartans to a 26-26 overall record and a trip to the Big Ten Semifinals in 2018. At Michigan State, Christensen worked with the pitchers and served as a first base coach.

A four-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection, Christensen earned her bachelor's of arts degree in psychology and philosophy from Holy Cross in 2016. She also completed her master's of science degree in sport coaching and leadership- kinesiology from Michigan State in 2018.
