CLEARWATER, Fl. – The Providence College softball team dropped a pair of one-run contests to Ohio, 2-1, and Cleveland State, 3-2, on Tuesday, March 10. The Friars fall to 6-11 on the season heading into the 2020 Clearwater Spring Break Invitational this weekend where Providence will play five games over three days against Penn State, UT-Chattanooga, Winthrop and Army (twice).
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- Ohio and Providence traded runs before the Bobcats scored the final run of the contest in the bottom of the sixth inning to give them a 2-1 victory.
- Ohio broke the scoreless game in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single to center field that plated Caroline Spacek.

Crista San Antonio (East Meadow, N.Y.) tied the game for the Friars in the top of the fourth inning at 1-1. San Antonio hit a sacrifice fly to left field that scored
Skie Villani (Sugar Land, Texas) for her fifth RBI of the season.
- The Bobcats tallied the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning off an RBI single by Molly Troutman.
- Villani recorded her first multi-hit performance of the season with
Lauren Nunez (Rowland Heights, Calif.) recording the other hit for the Friars.

Daniela Alvarez (Santa Ana, Calif.) earned the start in the circle and allowed five hits over six innings of work. She struck out one batter in the process.
GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- Providence fought back from a 3-0 deficit but its comeback came up short as the Friars fell 3-2 to Cleveland State in game two.
- The Vikings tallied a lone run in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead on an RBI single. Cleveland State added two runs in the top half of the second to finish their scoring on the afternoon.
- The Friars chipped away in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Izzy Mendez (Cedar Grove, N.J.) crossed the plate for the fifth time this season on a throwing error by the pitcher. Villani followed with her fifth RBI of the season with a groundout to second base that scored
Annie Flego (Little Silver, N.J.).
- Three pitchers saw time in the circle for the Friars.
Miranda Trinidad (La Habra, Calif.) started the game and pitched two innings, allowing one earned run.
Elysia Cunnigan (Corona, Calif.) and
Julia Murphy (Pittsfield, Mass.) pitched the final five innings, allowing zero runs.
