PROVIDENCE R.I. – Providence College softball Head Coach
Jill Karwoski announced today (July 16) that Alex Lagesse will join her staff as an assistant coach alongside
Bree Nasti. Lagesse was an assistant coach for the University of North Florida during the 2019 season. The Ospreys finished with a 30-24 overall record before falling in the ASUN Championship game.
"We are thrilled to be able to bring Alex to Friartown and complete our coaching staff," Karwoski said. "She will not only be able to work with our pitchers but also bring a contagious enthusiasm for the game that will immediately enhance our student-athlete experience. We look forward to seeing the positive impact Alex will bring to our program this season!"
Prior to the University of North Florida, Lagesse served as a volunteer assistant coach for the University of Michigan through a run of three NCAA Regional appearances (2016, 2017, 2018). Michigan's staff was rewarded with the 2016 and 2018 NFCA Great Lakes Region Coaching Staff of the Year. In 2016, she helped guide the Wolverines to the Women's College World Series for the 12
th time in the history of the program.
Lagesse graduated from Valparaiso University in 2012 after pitching four seasons for the softball program. She posted a career 2.37 ERA and holds the program record for wins. In 2012, she set the single season record for wins while leading the Crusaders to their first NCAA Tournament appearance. In 2015, she graduated with her Master of Science in Sports Administration from Valparaiso University Graduate School while acting as a graduate assistant coach for the softball team.
