PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team lost to the Brown University Bears, 9-7, on Tuesday, April 16 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. The Friars fall to 6-7 overall and conclude non-conference play with a 4-6 mark.

st Quarter: Brown racked up the first five shots of the game, but Tate Boyce (Matthews, N.C.) saved all three that came on frame. The Bears broke the stalemate six minutes in, as Reed Moshyedi ripped one past Boyce for his first-career goal. Providence responded with goals just five seconds apart. Matt Grillo (Setauket, N.Y.) scored from Brendan Kearns (Wantagh, N.Y.) and then Kearns posted a tally of his own. Colin Keating (Ridgewood, N.J.) won the face-off and picked up his first-career point by assisting Kearns. Brown scored with 1:44 remaining in the quarter to tie the game at 2-2.

nd Quarter: Similar to the first quarter, neither team was able to score through the opening minutes. Phil Goss made four saves for the Bears through the first seven minutes. Jack Kniffin converted on the Bears' first man-up chance of the game, putting Brown ahead 3-2 with 7:39 left on the clock. Brown tacked on two more goals in the quarter to head to the locker room with a 5-2 lead.

rd Quarter: Ryan Nawrocki (Smithtown, N.Y.) opened the second-half scoring with a nifty goal 49 seconds in. Nawrocki then assisted Nick Hatzipetrakos' 35th goal of the season to bring the Friars within one (5-4). Ryan Aughavin became the sixth Bear to score in the game, as he pushed the lead back to two with 9:58 remaining. Kevin McCordic (Medfield, Mass.) ripped a man-up goal past Goss, but Brown scored off the ensuing face-off to regain a two-goal lead. Neither team scored over the final 5:54 of the quarter.

th Quarter: Evan McGreen (Narragansett, R.I.) scored another man-up goal for the Friars 16 seconds into the quarter. Kniffin scored back-to-back goals to push the Bears' lead to 9-6 with 5:29 remaining. Grillo notched his second goal of the game with 59 seconds remaining, but Brown was able to win the ensuing face-off and close out the game.
