HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team defeated the Hofstra University Pride, 11-10, on Saturday, March 16 at James M. Shuart Stadium.
1st Quarter: The Friars jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, scoring three times in their first five possessions of the game. 
Ryan Nawrocki (Smithtown, N.Y.), 
Owen Martinson (Milton, Mass.) and 
Dan Axelson (Cohasset, Mass.) scored early goals for the Friars before 
Nick Hatzipetrakos (Syosset, N.Y.) added two more to increase the lead to 5-0. Hofstra responded with three goals in the final four minutes of the quarter to cut into the Friars' lead.
2nd Quarter: Neither team was able to score in the second quarter, sending the Friars to the locker room with the 5-3 lead. Hofstra held a 10-8 advantage in shots in the quarter, but 
Tate Boyce (Matthews, N.C.) made five saves to keep the Pride off the board.
3rd Quarter: Providence scored three of the first four goals in the quarter, pushing the lead to 8-4. Axelson, Nawrocki each struck for their second goals of the game, while Hatzipetrakos added his third of the day. The Pride responded with four-straight goals in 3:07 of play to tie the game at 8-8.
4th Quarter: Hofstra took its first lead of the day just 36 seconds into the final quarter. Axelson responded to tie the game once again (9-9). Hatzipetrakos tacked on his fourth of the game before Hofstra answered to make the score 10-10 with 9:45 left to play. Axelson scored the eventual game-winner with 5:52 left on the clock. The Friars closed out the game with strong defensive play, including forcing the Pride into a late shot clock violation.
Game Notes:
	- Nick Hatzipetrakos has now scored three or more goals in six-straight games for the Friars. He's had four games this season with four goals.
- Junior Dan Axelson, who entered the contest with just one career goal, also posted four goals for the Friars.
- Senior Tate Boyce made 16 total saves in net for the Friars. His first two saves of the game helped him reach 600 career saves.
- Freshman Owen Martinson's first-quarter goal was the first of his career.
- Face-off specialist Colin Keating (Ridgewood, N.J.) took a season-high 17 draws in the game. He went 10-for-17 for a .588 winning percentage.
- Four of the Friars' seven games this season have been decided by just one goal, including the last three straight.
- Providence improves to 3-4 on the season, while Hofstra drops to 3-5.
