Softball Travels To Take On Butler

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College Softball team traveled to Indianapolis, Ind. on Friday, April 20 to take on a three-game series against the Butler Bulldogs. The Friars will play a doubleheader against the Bulldogs on Saturday, April 21 before finishing the series with a single game on Sunday, April 22.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE:
The Providence College Friars have a record of 10-24 on the season. In BIG EAST play, the Friars have a record of 4-7 and are seventh in the conference standings.

Julianne Rurka (Warrenville, Ill.) has been the top offensive threat for the Friars. On the season, Rurka has a batting average of .345 with 29 hits, nine doubles, two home runs and 15 RBI. She has been especially effective in BIG EAST play, as she has an average of .395 and a slugging percentage of .605.

Emma Lee (Orange, Calif.) and Brittney Veler (Santa Rosa, Calif.) have both been important parts of the Providence offense. Lee is batting .298 with 34 hits. Veler has been the power bat for Providence. Veler leads the team in doubles (six), triples (2), home runs (six) and RBI (23).

Christina Ramirez (Niceville, Fla.) and Miranda Trinidad (La Habra, Calif.) have split starting pitching duties for Providence. Ramirez has a record of 5-9 on the season with a 3.32 ERA while also striking out 49 strikeouts. Trinidad has a record of 3-9 with an ERA of 2.92.

SCOUTING BUTLER:
The Butler Bulldogs have a record of 17-21 on the season. In BIG EAST play, the Bulldogs are 5-4 and sit in fourth place in the conference standings.

Alyssa Lach is the top batter for the Bulldogs. Lach is batting .306 on the season with 34 hits, five doubles and 18 RBI. Kaitlin Doud has been the power bat in the Butler lineup. Doud has 27 hits on the season with six doubles, five triples, five home runs and 25 RBI.

Alyssa Graves has been the ace of the Butler pitching staff. Graves has an ERA of 2.06 to go along with her 8-9 record. In 102 innings of work, Graves has struck out 90 batters and held opponents to a .212 batting average.

ON DECK:
The Friars will travel to Boston to take on the Boston University Terriers on Tuesday, April 24 for their final nonconference game of the year.
