PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College softball team is set to take on the Creighton Bluejays for a three game series on March 28-29. The Friars will play a double header on March 28 with games starting at 12:00 p.m. CT. Providence will then close out the series with a single game on March 29 at 12:00 p.m. CT.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE:
The Providence College softball team has an overall record of 5-16 on the year and is 2-0 in the BIG EAST. The team's last games came against Georgetown on Saturday, March 24. The Friars won both games.
Vanessa Portillo (Chatsworth, Calif.) has been the top hitter for Providence this season. She leads the team in batting average (.278) and has tallied 15 hits and six RBI as well. Emma Lee (Orange, Calif.) and Brittney Veler (Santa Rosa, Calif.) have also been essential parts of the Providence offense. Lee is second on the team in batting average (.246) and first in hits (16). Veler has been the power bat for the Friars as she leads the team in doubles (three), triples (two), home runs (one) and RBI (eight).
Miranda Trinidad (La Habra, Calif.) has been the top pitcher for the Friars. In seven starts, Trinidad has a record of 2-6 with a 2.15 ERA and has struck out 20 batters. Christina Ramirez (Niceville, Fla.) has started the most games for the first Friars. In her 10 starts, Ramirez has tallied a 2-7 record and has struck out 29 batters.
SCOUTING CREIGHTON:
The Creighton Bluejays have a record of 11-10 on the year. This will be the Bluejays' first BIG EAST games as Creighton's games against St. John's were postponed due to weather.
The Bluejays' have a well-balanced offense as the team has six batters with batting averages above .300. Courtney Sandell leads the team with a .382 average and has recorded 13 hits and 14 runs scored. Ashley Cantu is another important part of the offense as she has a .364 average and is leading the team with 24 hits and 18 runs scored. Kelli Finan has been the top power bat as she leads the team in home runs (four) and RBI (18).
Bryana Clark has been the ace of the Creighton staff. Clark has started nine games and appeared in 15. She has an ERA of 2.23 and a record of 3-4.
ON DECK:
The Friars host Quinnipiac University on April 3 for a non-conference game.
