Softball Set For Senior Weekend Against Creighton

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College Softball team is set to take on Creighton University for a three game weekend series on April 29-30. The final day of the series will be Providence's Senior Day.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE: The Friars have an overall record of 17-23 with a record of 5-10 in the BIG EAST. Providence last played a weekend series against Seton Hall on April 22-23, taking two of the three games against the Pirates.

Nicole Lundstrom (Rehoboth, Mass.) has been the leader of the Providence offense all season. Lundstrom leads the Friars in runs (38), home runs (8) and RBI (30) while also batting .355 with 39 hits and 39 walks.

Emma Lee (Orange, Calif.), Julianne Rurka (Warrenville, Ill.) and Brittney Veler (Santa Rosa, Calif.) have also played key roles for the Friars throughout the year. Lee leads the team in batting average (.360), hits (54) and is tied for the team lead in doubles (11). Rurka has tallied 35 hits, 8 doubles and 26 RBI. Veler has a batting average of .328 with 40 hits, 11 doubles and 27 RBI.

The top pitcher for Providence has been Christina Ramirez (Niceville, Fla.). Ramirez has a record of 11-13 on the season and 20 complete games in her 27 appearances this year. Ramirez has also tallied 98 strikeouts while holding batters to a .284 batting average this season.

SCOUTING CREIGHTON: The Creighton Blue Jays are currently 18-26 this season with an 8-7 record in the BIG EAST.

The Blue Jays have four players with atleast 40 hits this season. Sam Dellinger is the top offensive weapon for Creighton as she has an average of .368 with 50 hits, 13 doubles, 10 homeruns and 40 RBI. Tash Coffiel also has a record of .356 with 47 hits. Ashley Cantu and Anna O'Gorman are both assets to Creighton as both have recorded 41 hits this season.

The top pitcher for the Blue Jays has been Bryana Clark. In 20 starts, Clark has an ERA of 3.41 with a record of 9-9.
