Softball Set To Play Rhode Island And DePaul

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College softball team is set to play a double header at Rhode Island on April 6 in North Kingston, R.I. and will host DePaul in a three-game series on April 9 & 10. The Friars will play the Rams at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6. Providence will then play DePaul at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9 and at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 10.

The Friars are currently 13-17 (1-4 BIG EAST) on the season. Providence is coming off of a three-game series at Butler where they posted a 1-2 record. Freshman Emma Lee (Orange, Calif.) has a team-high 39 hits and is batting .448. She has also registered 12 RBI. Senior Kiki Baldassari (Denville, N.J.) has tallied 39 hits as well, has recorded 13 RBI, and is batting .386. Junior Nicole Lundstrom (Rehoboth, Mass.) leads the Friars in RBI with 23.

Freshman Megan McCune (Orange, Calif.) has made 12 appearances on the mound, starting six, and is holding a team best 2.82 ERA. McCune has struck out 41 batters in 49.2 innings pitched. Sophomore Christina Ramirez (Niceville, Fla.) has pitched 67 innings and has struck out 44 batters, she is holding a 4.60 ERA.

SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND: The Rams are 10-14 (1-3 A-10) on the season, after splitting a double header at Columbia on April 2. Ali Summers leads the Rams with a .338 batting average and 23 hits. She has also tallied eight RBI. Kylie Shivery has a team best 21 RBI and is hitting .286 with 22 hits.

Becca Rogers has made 15 appearances on the mound, with 11 starts. She is leading the Rams with a 2.72 ERA, while also striking out 46 batters in 67.0 innings.

SCOUTING DEPAUL: The Blue Demons are 13-20 (5-0 BIG EAST), after posting a 2-0 record over Georgetown last weekend (April 3). Prior to taking on Providence, DePaul will travel to Notre Dame on April 7. Naomi Tellez, who is batting a team-best .419, has tallied 31 hits and 33 RBI. Morgan Maize has had 39 hits in 100 at bats for a .390 batting average, she has registered 27 RBI. Maize is also leading the Blue Demons on the mound, making 24 appearances and 21 starts. She has pitched 128.1 innings, registered 95 strike outs, and has a 4.31 ERA.
