Three Softball Players Named To Fordham All-Tournament Team

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – It was announced that freshman Megan McCune (Orange, Calif.), junior Nicole Lundstrom (Rehoboth, Mass.), and sophomore Brittney Veler (Santa Rosa, Calif.) of the Providence College softball team were named to the Fordham All-Tournament Team.

The Friars posted a 1-2 record last week in the Fordham Tournament. On March 11, Providence was swept by Fordham in a double header, with a 5-0 loss in the first game and an 8-3 loss in the second game. On March 12, Providence recorded a 9-1 win over Saint Peter's.

Last week on the mound, McCune recorded a 2.10 ERA after 10 innings, striking out eight batters. Lundstrom leads the Friars with 16 RBI on the season. Last week she registered three hits and three RBI. Veler tallied a hit in each game in the Fordham tournament and batted .556 (5-of-9). She tallied three RBI, two doubles, and a homerun.

The Friars will return to action with an away game at Boston University at 4:00 p.m. on March 16 in Boston, Mass.
