Softball Set To Play Boston University

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College softball team is set to play Boston University on Wednesday, March 16 at 4:00 p.m. in Boston, Mass. The Friars are 10-10 on the season after posting a 1-2 record last week in the Fordham Tournament. On March 11, Providence was swept by Fordham in a double header, with a 5-0 loss in the first game and an 8-3 loss in the second game. On March 12, Providence recorded a 9-1 win over Saint Peter's.

Junior Nicole Lundstrom (Rehoboth, Mass.) leads the Friars with 16 RBI on the season. Freshman Emma Lee (Orange, Calif.) leads Providence with a .418 batting average and has 23 hits and eight RBI on the season. Senior, Kiki Baldassari (Denville, N.J.) leads the Friars with 27 hits and has recorded 11 RBI. Last week on the mound, Megan McCune (Orange, Calif.) recorded a 2.10 ERA after 10 innings, striking out eight batters.

Scouting Boston University: The Terriers are 8-11 on the season, coming off of the Mizuno Invitational. Boston University posted a 3-0 record on the weekend with a 4-1 win over UC Riverside on Friday, March 11 and double header wins over Southern Utah (5-0) and Yale University (7-3) on Saturday, March 12.

Brittany Younan leads the Terriers, batting .375, recording 24 hits, seven RBI, and holding .391 slugging percentage. Following Younan is Moriah Connolly who holds a .348 batting average and totals 23 hits, six RBI, and 10 runs. Lauren Hynes has made 15 appearances on the mound with nine starts. She holds a 2.20 ERA, with 60 strikeouts.
