Field Hockey Resumes BIG EAST Conference Play Against Quinnipiac

The Providence College field hockey team will face BIG EAST foe Quinnipiac on Saturday, Oct. 8. The match will be played at Yale University in New Haven, Conn., and is scheduled to begin at Noon. The two teams are currently knotted in a four-way tie for second place in the BIG EAST standings [with Old Dominion and Liberty], having each compiled a 2-1 record. in conference action.

SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC (2-9, 2-1 BIG EAST): The Quinnipiac field hockey team enters Saturday's match against Providence with a 2-9 overall record. Despite the Bobcats' overall record, they have secured victories when it counts most, as they hold a 2-1 record in BIG EAST Conference play. Quinnipiac has defeated league foes Georgetown (4-2) and Villanova (5-2), with its only loss coming to Liberty (6-1).

Savanna Reilly leads the Bobcats in scoring with 16 points on seven goals and two assist. Dayna Barlow is second among her teammates in scoring with eight points on three goals and two assists. Lauren Belskie and Felicia Costanzo follow with six points apiece. Belskie has tallied three goals, while Costanzo has two goals and two assists. Ines Ruiz Martinez leads the Bobcats in assists, with three.

Olivia Golini (2-8) has played the majority of minutes in the cage this season (701:03) and owns a 0.653 save percentage and a 2.60 goals against average. Hannah Teicher (0-1) has played 99:36 minutes in goal and owns a 0.706 save percentage and a 3.51 goals against average.

In the team's most recent game on Oct. 2, Quinnipiac fell to Hofstra by a score of 3-2. Hofstra (8-4) out-shot the Bobcats 16-9 and held a 5-2 advantage in penalty corners. Golini played all 70 minutes in the cage for Quinnipiac and made two saves, while Belskie picked up a defensive save.

Last season, the Friars earned a 3-2 victory over Quinnipiac in non-conference action on Oct. 11.


SCOUTING PROVIDENCE COLLEGE (9-3, 2-1 BIG EAST): The Providence College field hockey team enters Saturday's league match-up against Quinnipiac with a 9-3 overall record, including a 2-1 mark in the BIG EAST. The Friars have won six of their last seven games, with the only blemish on the schedule coming on Sept. 30 against top-ranked Connecticut (2-0).

Senior midfielder Adrienne Houle (Burlington, Ontario) leads the Friars in scoring with a career-high 19 point on nine goals and one assist. Four of her nine goals this season have been game winners. Senior Kali Kilmer (Wayne, Pa.) and junior Megan Hamilton (Warrington, Pa.) also have reached double figures in the scoring column. Kilmer owns a career-best 10 points on five goals, while Hamilton has 10 points on four goals and two assists. Hamilton leads the Friars with three defensive saves. Freshman Sylvia Miller (Severn, Md.) is on the door step of a double-digit rookie campaign, as she enters the weekend with nine points on four goals and one assist. Five other Friars have scored at least one goal through 12 games.

Junior goalkeeper Megan Guilbert (Morganville, N.J.) has been impressive in goal for Providence, having recorded a 1.53 goals against average and a 0.729 save percentage in 866:30 minutes.


WHAT'S NEXT: The Friars will travel to Washington, D.C. to take on BIG EAST opponent Georgetown at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14.
