Softball Falls 7-1 At Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Providence College softball team was defeated, 7-1, at Boston College on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference game. Sophomore Nicole Lundstrom (Rehoboth, Mass.) generated Providence's only run on a solo homer in the top of the first.

After Lundstrom's lead-off home run, senior Kristie Dederick (Camarillo, Calif.) singled to center field but was unable to score in the rest of the inning.

Boston College responded in the bottom of the bottom of the first on two runs on one hit, to take a 2-1 lead.

The game remained 2-1 until the bottom of the fifth when the Eagles scored four runs on five hits to take a 6-1 advantage. Boston College added its final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth (7-1).

Sophomore Nadia Kemp (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) and freshman Paige Mulry (West Roxbury, Mass.) were the other Friars to notch hits in the game.

Sophomore Taylor Huntly took the loss for the Friars pitching 4.1 innings with one strikeout. Freshman Christina Ramirez (Niceville, Fla.) pitched 1.2 innings, recoring two strikeouts.

Jessica Dreswick picked up the win for BC pitching seven innings, giving up five hits while striking out three.

The Friars close out the regular season hosting Creighton in a three-game BIG EAST series, with a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at noon and 2:00 p.m. and a single game on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Sunday's game will also honor the five Friar graduating seniors.
