Cancelled Event: Softball versus Tarleton State

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Providence College softball team fell to No. 13 UCLA, 7-1, in its first game of the UCLA Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament on Friday, March 6.
The 13th-ranked Bruins (18-5) were the first to get on the board. UCLA's Kylee Perez hit a single up the middle to send Ally Carda home for the first run of the game. After the first inning, UCLA was up 1-0.
The Friars (0-6) responded in the second inning. With junior Danielle Deraney (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and sophomore Nadia Kemp (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) on second and third base, respectively, junior Kiki Baldassari (Denville, N.J.) singled to left field for the only RBI of the game for the Friars, sending Kemp home to equalize the score, 1-1.
UCLA added three runs in the second to regain the lead and followed that up withtwo runs in the fourth and one run in the fifth en route to its victory.
The Bruins' Selina Ta'amilo picked up the win for UCLA, registering five strikeouts andallowing six hits. Sophomore Taylor Huntly (Las Vegas, Nev.)pitched six innings for the Friars.
The Friars resume play in the Tournament later today (Mar. 6) at 10:00 p.m. EST to take on UC Davis.
