Cancelled Event: Softball versus Tarleton State

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Providence College softball team fell to No. 22 Tulsa, 10-0, in its fifth and final game of the Florida Atlantic "Strike-Out Cancer" Tournament on Sunday, Feb. 15.
The 22nd-ranked Golden Hurricanes (7-3) were the first to get on the board. Tulsa had the bases loaded bases with Catherine Horner coming up to bat, who singled up the left side to send Erica Sampson home. After the first inning, the Golden Hurricanes added three runs in the second inning, two runs in the fourth inning and four runs in the seventh inning.
The Friars (0-5) had three hits throughout the game. The first came in the bottom of the first with senior Shanelle Harrell (Irvine, Calif.) hitting a single up the middle. The second and third hits both came in the bottom of the third. Harrell notched her second hit of the game, singling to the left center. Sophomore Nicole Lundstrom (Rehoboth, Mass.) had the other hit in the inning, off of a single.
Sophomore Taylor Huntly (Las Veges, Nev.) and freshmen Taryn Braz (Simsbury, Conn.) and Christina Ramirez (Niceville, Fla.) all made pitching appearances for Providence. Huntly pitched 5.0 innings, registering four strikeouts while allowing eight hits. Braz and Ramirez both pitched 1.0 inning, allowing three hits each.
Tulsa's Bailey Erwin, picked up the win for Tulsa, pitching 4.1 innings, recording six strikeouts and allowing only three hits. Emily Watson also pitched for Tulsa in 2.2 innings of action, registering five strikeouts.
The Friars are back in action on Friday, Feb. 27 through Sunday, Mar. 1 in Towson, Md. for the Towson Tiger Classic.
