Softball Defeated By Boston College

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College softball team was defeated by Boston College, 12-2, on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. The contest was Providence's (6-26) last home regular season game of the season.

Boston College (29-19) scored four runs on three hits in the top of the second inning to start the scoring, including a two run home run, to jump out to a 4-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second, senior Marie Flego (Little Silver, N.J.) hit her first career home run in her final home game. The shot cleared the left field wall to bring PC within three runs of BC, 4-1.

The Eagles responded in the top of the third with two runs on two hits to bring the score to 6-1.

Providence gained a run back when freshman McKall Miller (Ashburn, Va.) singled to center to drive in junior Megan Rollings (Marysville, Wash.) and bring the score to 6-2, advantage BC.

Boston College's Tory Speer hit a solo shot in the fourth to give the Eagles a quick run and bring the score to 7-2. The following inning, Boston College scored five runs on four hits to bring the score to its eventual final of 12-2.

Sophomore Kiara Amos (Malden, Mass) took the loss on the mound while Nicole D'Argento picked up the win for BC.

The Friars travel to nearby Smithfield, R.I. to face Bryant tomorrow, Wednesday, April 30. The game is set to start at 4:00 p.m. and will be streamed live by Cox Sports, click here for the link.
