Cancelled Event: Softball versus Tarleton State

The Providence College softball team (21-24-1, 7-10 BIG EAST) will travel to play the Pittsburgh Panthers (16-27, 5-12 BIG EAST) on Wed., May 1. The teams' will face off in a doubleheader beginning at 12:30 p.m. The Panthers are currently leading the all-time series 13-12 since the teams first met in 2000.
Providence heads to Pittsburgh after sweeping Villanova in its' final home series of the season on April 27-28. The Friars defeated the Wildcats 4-3 and 3-1 on Saturday, April 27, and completed the sweep on Sunday, April 28 with a 6-3 victory. Sophomore Kelsi Luttrell (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and freshman Kiara Baldassari (Denville, N.J.) led the Friars with five hits, and one RBI apiece. Baldassari also scored two critical runs in each of Saturday's wins.
The Panthers have not played since they were swept in back-to-back series against Louisville and Notre Dame on April 17-21. Pittsburgh has only picked up three wins in their last 17 games.
Following Wednesday's game, the Friars will travel to Syracuse to play their final series of the regular season. The teams will face off in a doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday, May 4 and play the final game of the series on Sunday, May 5.
