PROVIDENCE, R.I. -

The Providence College softball team (18-24-1, 4-10 BIG EAST) will host the Villanova Wildcats (18-26, 2-15 BIG EAST) this weekend for a three-game conference series. The teams will face-off in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 27 beginning at 12:00 p.m. and close the series on Sunday, April 28 with the final game being played at 12:00 p.m. The Friars also will be celebrating Senior Day on Sunday, with a pre-game ceremony in honor of their three graduating seniors.

Providence played one game this week at non-conference opponent Fairfield on Wednesday, April 24. The Friars defeated the Stags, 8-5. Freshman Kiarra Baldassari (Denville, N.J.) led the Friars with two runs, three hits and one RBI.

The Wildcats are coming off a pair of wins against LaFayette on Thursday, April 25. Villanova took the first game, 2-0 after 10 innings, and won the second game, 4-3, in the ninth inning. The day was highlighted by a no-hitter thrown by freshman Kate Poppe during game one. Poppe was the ninth pitcher in Villanova softball history to pitch a no-hitter.
