Softball vs. Bryant Cancelled

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -

The Providence College softball team's (17-24-1, 4-10 BIG EAST) game against the Bryant Bulldogs has been cancelled due to inclement weather.  The Friars will play their next game on Wednesday, April 23 at Fairfield.  The single game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.

The Stags (21-16, 7-3 America East) are coming off a pair of games against Siena College on Sunday, April 21.  Fairfield defeated Siena in the first game, 5-4.  Fairfield scored all of its runs in the first inning.  After loading the bases, one run was brought in after infielder Lauren Filicia drew a walk.  Then, junior pitcher/utility player Rae Ball hit a grandslam.  Fairfield lost the second game, 2-1. Ball hit her second homer of the day in the second inning to score the Stags only run.

Ball has made 24 appearances on the mound for the Stags this season.  She has recorded a 1.66 ERA and 45 strikeouts this season.

Following Wednesday's game, Providence will play a three-game series against Villanova on April 27-28.  The teams' will play a doubleheader on Saturday, April 27 beginning at noon, and the final game of the series on Sunday, April 28 at noon.
