PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
The Providence College softball team (6-11) will play at the Stony Brook Invitational in Stony Brook, N.Y. on March 15-17. The Friars will play five games over the course of the three day series, starting with a game against Holy Cross on Friday, March 15.
On Saturday, March 16, the team will play a pair of games against Manhattan and Stony Brook. Providence again will play Manhattan and Holy Cross for a second time on Sunday, March 17.
The Friars competed in the USF Under Armour Classic on March 8-10. They finished with a 1-4 record including a 5-1 win over Brigham Young.
Sophomore
Shanelle Harrell (Irvine, Calif.) currently leads the team with a .356 batting average. Harrell has played all 17 games this season and has a team high 21 hits on 59 at bats. Sophomore
Kristie Dederick (Camarillo, Calif.) leads the team with 17 RBI, including 10 RBI that came in Providence's 18-6 and 10-1 victories over Bethune Cookman on Wednesday, March 6.
Following this weekend's tournament, the Friars will host the Yale Bulldogs on Wednesday, March 20 in a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m. to open up their home schedule.
