Cancelled Event: Softball versus Tarleton State

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Providence College softball team was defeated by DePaul, 5-1, Sunday afternoon in a BIG EAST Conference game at Cacciatore Stadium in Chicago, Ill. It marked the season finale for the Friars. The game was halted after five innings because of inclement weather.
Providence took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when senior Jen Abrams (Reading, Mass.) reached base on a bunt single to drive in classmate Michelle Huber (Dana Point, Calif.) who led off with a triple. Samantha Dodd and Mary Connolly each drove in a run for DePaul in the third inning as the Blue Demons took a 2-1 lead. DePaul added three more runs in the fourth inning and increase its lead to 5-1 and seal fifth place in the BIG EAST standings. Huber finished with two hits for the Friars, while Abrams had one hit and one RBI.
