Cancelled Event: Softball versus Tarleton State

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College softball team (13-21, 4-4 BIG EAST) fell to Pittsburgh (20-17, 3-6 BIG EAST) by a score of 6-2 Saturday afternoon in the final game of a three-game BIG EAST series.
The Friars let up one run in the second inning following a bases loaded single and three more in the top of the third inning. The Panthers added another run in the following inning on a home run by Holly Stevens to extend their lead to 5-0.
Senior Michelle Huber (Dana Point, Calif.) helped the Friars cut into the lead in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run double, but Stevens belted her second home run of the afternoon in the seventh inning to help her team to a 6-2 lead. Stevens batted 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs. Juniors Stephanie Kiesel (Ramona, Calif.) and Jessie Bryant (Marlborough, Mass.) each had one hit for the Friars.
The Friars will travel to USF for a BIG EAST doubleheader on Wednesday, April 11 slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
