CLEARWATER, Fla. -

The Providence College softball team was defeated by Kent State, 3-2, on Sunday, March 18 in the final game of the USF Under Armour Invitational in Clearwater, Fla.

Kent State scored all of its runs in the first two innings to take a 3-0 lead. In the fourth inning, the Friars collected three hits including a two-run single by junior Jessie Bryant (Marlborough, Mass.) to cut the lead to 3-2. Providence had a chance to tie the game in the sixth inning as it loaded the bases, but could not convert. Senior pitcher Alicia Grosso (Balwin, N.Y.) posted five strikeouts for PC.

The Friars are back in action on Saturday, March 24 when they face Fairfield in the home opener at Raymond Field.
