PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior Jessie Bryant (Marlborough, Mass.) of the Providence College softball team and sophomore Maria Clara Bernardez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Rep.) of the Providence College tennis team were awarded the Mark Mandell and Yvette Boisclair Student-Athlete Scholarship earlier this semester.
The Mark Mandell Yvette Boisclair Student-Athlete Scholarship is sponsored by Mark Mandell and his wife Yvette Boisclair, a 1984 graduate of Providence College. This is the first year that the Mark Mandell Scholarship has been awarded and will continue to be awarded annually to qualifying student-athletes. Mark and Yvette work with Athletic Director Bob Driscoll to select student-athletes who demonstrate what it truly means to be a student-athlete at Providence College. Student-athletes are nominated by coaches of each of Providence College's 19 Division I sports. Bryant and Bernardez were selected because of how well they serve as role models by taking part in community service, meeting high academic standards, and performing well on the field.
