Softball's Jen Abrams Earns Academic All-District Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College softball junior Jen Abrams (Reading, Mass.) earned 2011 Capital One Academic All-District honors which recognizes her as one of nation's top student-athletes for her combined performance on the field and in the classroom. Abrams was named to the second team for District 1.

Abrams, a marketing major, set the pace for the Friars offensively and led the team in hits (61) and runs (35), which ties her for third all-time in both categories in a single season. This season, she also was second on the team in batting average (.347), home runs (10) and third in RBI (25). Hitting from the leadoff spot, Abrams reached base 33 times in 71 opportunities (.465).
