Cancelled Event: Softball versus Tarleton State

Providence, R.I. - The Providence College softball team falls to Boston College, 13-5, on Thursday, April 28.
Providence (21-28, 5-12 BIG EAST) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Junior Jen Abrams (Reading, Mass.) led off the game with a double to right-center field. Sophomore Jessie Bryant (Marlborough, Mass.) recorded a single up the middle to drive in Abrams to give the Friars the lead.
In the second inning, Providence took a 2-0 lead behind senior Ava Pandiani's (Shrewsbury, Mass.) third home run of the season. Boston College (13-27, 5-10 ACC) then went on to score two runs in the bottom of the second inning to tie the game up at 2-2.
The Friars took back the lead in the third inning when senior Justine Stratton (Fresno, Calif.) hit a solo homer to left field. Stratton now has nine home runs on the season and 19 for her career, which ties her for fifth all-time.
The Eagles went on to score five runs in the bottom of the third inning and take a 7-3 lead, which they wouldn't relinquish. The Friars managed to score two more runs in the sixth inning when junior Michelle Huber (Dana Point, Calif.) notched an RBI triple and scored on the throw, but Boston College scored six more runs in the bottom half of the inning to win, 13-5.
The Friars are back in action on Saturday, April 30, when they open a three-game BIG EAST Conference series versus the Hoyas of Georgetown. Game on of a doubleheader on Saturday is scheduled for Noon.
