Cancelled Event: Softball versus Tarleton State

Providence, R.I. - Providence College softball (5-7) defeated Towson, 3-0, and Charlotte, 5-0, on Friday, March 11 in the Winthrop-Adidas Classic in Rock Hill, S.C.
In the first game against Towson, the score remained tied at zero until junior Michelle Huber (Dana Point, Calif.) notched a game-winning three run home run, her first of the season. Sophomore pitcher Corinne Clauss (Davie, Fla.) earned the victory after pitching eight scoreless innings and only giving up three hits.
In their second game of the day, the Friars defeated Charlotte, 5-0. Providence jumped out to an early, 3-0, lead in the first inning behind sophomore Jessie Bryant's (Marlborough, Mass.) team leading third home run of the season. The Friars extended the lead in the sixth inning when senior Justine Stratton (Fresno, Calif.) notched a two run double.
Junior pitcher Alicia Grosso (Baldwin, N.Y.) earned her third victory of the season after pitching seven shutout innings and giving up no runs on five hits.
The Friars are back in action tomorrow when they play George Washington at 11:00 a.m. and Gardner-Webb at 3:00 p.m.
