Cancelled Event: Softball versus Tarleton State

The Providence College softball team was defeated by No. 8/10 Stanford, 6-0, Wednesday night in Stanford, Calif. With the win, the Cardinal improved to 16-1, while the Friars are now 2-6.
The Cardinal had two hits, including one home run in the first inning to jump out to a 3-0 lead and never looked back. Alissa Haber led off the game with a home run, while Rosey Neill hit a two-run single. Stanford added three more runs in the fourth inning to complete the scoring.
The Friars' best chance to score came when junior Jennifer Maccio (Huntington Station, N.Y.) and sophomore Jenna Garcia (Morro Bay, Calif.) each hit singles in the third inning as the Friars had two runners on and one out, but could not convert.
Ashley Chinn earned the win as she improved to 4-0 on the season. She pitched five-plus innings, allowing no runs on four hits and striking out four batters. Maccio allowed four earned runs and struck out one batter in four innings of action for PC.
The Friars are back in action on Friday, February 29 when they play Campbell in the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational in Santa Clara, Calif.
