PROVIDENCE, R.I. - #17 Providence College (0-1, 0-0 BIG EAST): The Providence College field hockey team enters Tuesday's non-conference match against AMERICA EAST foe, Boston University with a 0-1 record. Providence is ranked 17th in the STX/NFHCA Division I National Coaches' Preaseasn Poll while the Terriers are ranked 20th. The Friars are coming off a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the University of Vermont in this weekend's season opener. The Friars are led offensively by sophomore forward Nellie Poulin (Oakland, Maine) and senior Abby Maguire (Southbury, Conn.). Poulin finished last season with a team-high 25 points on 10 goals and five assists, while Maguire ended the 2006 season with 21 points on nine goals and three assists.

Sophomore Rachel Chamberlain (Branford, Conn.) is the Friars' primary goalkeeper this season after finishing the 2006 campaign with a record of 16-4 and posting a 1.25 goals against average and a .800 save percentage. Her remarkable freshman campaign garnered All-America honors (Third Team) and she was also named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of The Year. Chamberlain currently stands at 0-1 with a 1.00 goals against average and .800 save percentage. The last time Boston University and Providence met was on September 13, 2006 in Providence, R.I. The Friars earned a 1-0 victory in that meeting.

The Friars return to action on Saturday, September 1 when they travel to Yale for a 1:00 p.m. contest.

# 20 BOSTON UNIVERSITY (1-0, 0-0 America East): Boston University enters Tuesday's game against Providence with a 1-0 overall record. Boston University is coming off of an 8-1 win over Quinnipiac on August 25. The game was played in Cambridge, Mass.

The Terriers are led by senior forward Sarah Shute (Lincolnville, Maine) who finished last season with a team-high 34 points on 14 goals and six assists. In their recent match against Quinnipiac, Shute recorded the third hatrick of her career scoring three goals to go along with two assists for a career-high eight points. Senior tri-captain Pam Spuehler (Sudbury, Mass.) added two goals and two assists in the victory.
