Cancelled Event: Softball versus Tarleton State

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Providence College softball team was defeated, 7-0, at Winthrop Thursday afternoon in Rock Hill, S.C. With the loss, the Friars fell to 4-5, while the Eagles improved to 16-8.
The Eagles were led by freshman Megan Evans, who pitched a complete-game shutout and struck out seven batters to improve to 9-4. Winthrop scored the only runs it would need in the third inning when sophomore Lisa Kingsmore hit a two-run double. The Eagles added three more runs in the fourth inning on sophomore Mallory Hogan's three-run home run to make the score 5-0. Winthrop capped off the scoring with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
The Friars are back in action on Friday, March 9 when the take on Towson at 10 a.m. and UNC Greensboro at 4 p.m. in the Winthrop/adidas Invitational.
