PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The 2006 BIG EAST Softball Championship field has been set after the completion of regular season play on Sunday, May 7. The Providence College softball team (29-18-1) is making its first appearance since 1996 in the tournament and will face Notre Dame on Thursday, May 11. The Irish are the third seed, while the Friars are seeded sixth. The two squads will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Belleview Softball Complex in South Bend, Ind.
