Shannon Garvin Earns All-BIG EAST Softball Honors

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - It was announced on Friday, May 12 that Providence College sophomore shortstop Shannon Garvin (Fresno, Calif.) was named to the All-BIG EAST Conference Third Team. It marks the first time that Garvin has earned All-BIG EAST accolades.

Garvin led all Providence batters with a .316 average in BIG EAST games. In addition, she scored eight runs, hit two home runs and drove in six runs in 18 conference games. She also had an on-base percentage of .371. On March 14, Garvin was named BIG EAST Co-Player of the Week.

Providence finished the 2005 season with a 33-20 overall record, including a 5-13 mark in BIG EAST play. The Friars' 33 wins marked the first time since 1994-95 that the Friars posted consecutive seasons with over 30 victories.
