On the mound, Friar senior Nicole Bartholomew (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) went four innings and struck nine batters. Of the 12 outs that Bartholomew recorded, nine came via the strikeout. Villanova's Shannon Williams pitched five plus innings, allowed just three hits and struck four batters. Kat Walsh earned the save by pitching one plus innings and retiring all four batters she faced.

In the second game, Nicole Bartholomew's strong pitching led the Friars to a 6-3 victory as the Friars earned a split of the doubleheader. Bartholomew went all seven innings, striking out two batters to earn her 12th victory of the season. The Friars scored four runs in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead, capped off by freshman Sam Pittman (San Diego, Calif.), who smacked a two-out, two-run double.

Providence added two more runs in the sixth inning on a home run by sophomore Rachel Bartholomew (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) and a sacrifice fly by junior Michele Bowers (State Island, N.Y.).
