PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence senior pitcher Nicole Bartholomew (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week on Thursday, March 10. It marked the third time in her career that Bartholomew earned the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week honors.
Bartholomew pitched four games and led the Providence softball team to a 6-3 mark in South Carolina. She threw three complete-game shutouts, including a 1-0 victory against the fifth-ranked Tennessee Lady Volunteers on March 4 in the first game of the Charleston Southern Invitational. Bartholomew also pitched in shutout wins over College of Charleston (8-0) on March 1 and Furman (3-0) on March 3. In four games last week, Bartholomew posted a 3-1 record, a 0.24 ERA, 30 strikeouts and held opponents to a .147 batting average.
The Friars will play at the Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, South Carolina beginning on March 11 against Towson University.
