PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College sophomore Michelle Willette (Moorpark, Calif.) was named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Softball Player of the Week on Tuesday, April 6. For Willette, who earned BIG EAST Player of the Week honors on April 5, it marked her second weekly honor.
Willette helped the Friars to a 3-2-1 mark last week as she batted .400, with four home runs, five runs scored and four runs batted in. She began the week by going 2-for-3 in PC's 5-4 victory over Harvard in eight innings. Willette's two hits were home runs, including a two-run walk-off homer in the eighth inning to lead the Friars to a come back victory. On Saturday, April 3, Willette was the hero again, belting another two-run game-winning home run as Providence defeated Seton Hall, 5-3, in the first game of a double header. On Sunday, April 4 Willette hammered her fourth home run of the week in PC's 2-1 victory over St. John's as Providence earned a double header split.
For the season, Willette is fourth on the team with a .300 batting average. In addition, she is tied for second in home runs (6) and second in RBI (19).
