Providence College Friars (13-15): The Providence College softball team will host three non-conference opponents for double headers this week beginning with Dartmouth on Tuesday, April 22 at 3:00 p.m. The Friars are coming off a sweep of Fairfield (3-1, 1-0 (14 inn.)) on Saturday, April 19 in Providence, R.I.. The Friars were led by junior pitcher Cori Van Dusen (Riverside, Calif.) who posted a career-high 15 strikeouts in 14 innings of Providence's, 1-0, victory in the second game. She also scored the winning run in the bottom of the 14th inning when freshman Elena Romero (Chula Vista, Calif.) doubled to left centerfield. Van Dusen leads the Friar pitchers with a 2.81 ERA, while senior Melissa Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif.) has a team-best 6-2 record. Offensively, Providence is led by Romero who has a team-high .330 batting average and 15 RBI. Van Dusen leads the team in home runs with three while freshman Michelle Willette (Moorpark, Calif.) has a team-high .482 slugging percentage.
Dartmouth College Big Green (5-17): The Big Green travel to Providence, R.I. on Tuesday, April 22 to face the Friars having most recently lost twice to Yale, 2-1 and 3-2, on Saturday, April 19. Dartmouth is led by senior Kisa Brannen (Los Angeles, Calif.) who has a team-high .345 batting average, 12 RBI, and .431 slugging percentage. On the mound, junior Danica Guigliano (Gansevoort, N.Y.) leads Dartmouth with a 5-6 record and a 1.36 ERA in 11 appearances. Last season, Dartmouth defeated Providence, 8-0, in Hanover, N.H.
Yale University Bulldogs (16-20): The Bulldogs travel to Providence, R.I. on Wednesday, April 23 to face the Friars having most recently defeated Dartmouth twice, 2-1 and 3-2, on Saturday, April 19. Yale is led by senior Jesseka Bartholomew (Los Angeles, Calif.) who has a team-high .342 batting average and 21 RBI. Juniors Rina Brannen (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Britni Fabacher (Lafayette, La.) are behind Bartholomew with .312 and .305 batting averages, respectively. On the mound, freshman Beth Pavlicek (Sugar Land, Texas) leads the Bulldogs with a 7-4 record and a 1.51 ERA in 19 appearances. Last season, Yale defeated Providence, 4-0, in Providence, R.I.
