OSCEOLA, Fla. -- The Providence College softball team won for the third straight time this spring, defeating St. Francis (Pa.) University, 7-4, on Wednesday at the 2001 Rebel Games in Osceola, Fla.
Senior catcher Kerri Jacklets (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) led the Friars with a three-run first-inning home run, a run-scoring single in the second inning and a two-run, home run in the fourth inning to put the contest away.
All told, Jacklets went three-for-four at the plate with two homers, scored two runs and six RBI.
Senior hurler Robyn West (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) pitched three-and-one-third innings of relief for her second win of the season in two appearances. She allowed just three hits and one unearned run while striking out five Red Flash batters. Freshman Cori Van Dusen (Riverside, Calif./Mater Dei) made her first career start for the Friars (3-0), pitching three-and-two-third innings and allowed just four hits and three unearned runs while striking out six batters.
The Friars return to action on Thursday, March 8 when they face North Carolina A & M State University in Orlando, Fla. Game time is 2:00 p.m.
